Famed Sealand forwarding company drives US trucks

All WIKING had to do to embark on their Peterbilt container tractor-trailer project was to pull out a drawer – because the drawer held all original printed documents. It was WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer himself who established the contact to the shipping companies more than 50 years ago. Back then, Sealand was on the short list, too. Even at the first glance, the Peterbilt container semi-trailer announces the freedom of America’s highways. The imposing appearance of the American bonnet tradition in the trucking business makes the Peterbilt so typical of those years. WIKING has miniaturised the original with the contemporary Sealand design. In April 1960, the company name changed from Pan-Atlantic Steamship Corporation to Sealand. Between 1967 and 1973, Sealand made a name for themselves by supplying 1,200 containers per month to the Indochina Peninsula during the Vietnam War. From January 1969 to 1999, Sealand was owned by the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, CSX, and other logistics companies. Following that time, the grand name of Sealand kept changing owners until it eventually disappeared in 2006. In the end, Maersk Sealand renamed the company into Maersk Line following the acquisition of P&O Nedlloyd.
