All the rage back then: An organically shaped roof over your car
Organic shapes gave distinction to the fifties. No wonder that the open carports picked to provide cars with shelter from the weather featured a curved roof as well. The real-world sibling of this carport was a common sight back then, as it could be set up with simple foundations in almost any place within a few days. Even car dealerships depended on the steel girders with the curved roof surface. In contrast to many WIKING car models from those production years, the carport stayed outside of the reach of most collectors. While offered fully assembled, it took up a tremendous amount of space in the multi-piece boxes and was largely relegated to an existence in the shadows due to weak demand from dealers who placed regular orders. In consequence, they have now become items whose popularity keeps rising substantially. By revitalising the moulds of the carport, which was available from 1962 to 1968, WIKING is now satisfying the requests of many collectors.
