Forwarder Beißner picked up the Henschel in Kassel

With this flatbed road train, WIKING tops off and completes the trio modelled after the originals of the fleet operated by the Beißner forwarding company. When Henschel presented the latest generation of lorries at the 1961 IAA auto show, the HS 14/16 series with its pioneering cubic driver’s cab was among the highlights. Thought up by French designer Louis Lucien Lepoix, it came to be the striking face of all Henschel vehicles in the 1960s. The Beißner forwarding company did not have to travel far to take possession of their new road train and picked it up during a day trip from Hanover to Kassel. Recognising the potential of this business early on, the Hanover forwarder Beißner specialised in transporting furniture before also becoming involved in transporting unit loads over long distances in the sixties. Founded as a carriage company in Hanover’s Hildesheimer Strasse on 04 August 1900 by Ernst Beißner, the company consisted of one cart and one horse and offered “Load transports of all kind with special focus on furniture transports”. After the war had ended, the company resumed operation and quickly added swap body trucks in the late 1960s. WIKING had previously already miniaturised the Hanomag L 28 and the successor to MAN’s “Pausbacke” trailer truck with a matching swap body.
