The “Dallas” SL owned by Bobby Ewing
Architects were fond of it, and Bobby Ewing made it popular in the American hit series Dallas” in the late 1970s. Paired at that time with the US license plate “Ewing 4”, the Mercedes-Benz R107 became famous the world over. The SL was to become a successful two-seater roadster. WIKING is now presenting it as a version with cypress green metallic paintwork. The R107 belonged to the SL series, which became the successor of the so-called “Pagode” (Mercedes-Benz W113) in 1971. A close look at the WIKING model will help you understand why the SL was a major influence in defining the Mercedes-Benz style of the 1970s. The sharp-cornered rectangular headlamps and the massively wide tail lights are unforgotten.”
