U.S. Air Force Convair XB-58 Hustler – B-58 Test Force – 55-0661 “Mach-in-Boid”
Scale 1:200
To this day, the sleek Convair B-58 Hustler, with its delta wings and wasp waist, has lost none of its fascination. 55-0661 was the second prototype of Convair’s Mach 2 strategic bomber and took off on its maiden flight on February 16, 1957. Nicknamed the “Mach-in-Boid,” the aircraft was used extensively for testing and evaluation and was, among other things, the first “Hustler” to conduct flight refueling tests, test unique fuel tank/weapons nacelles, or test emergency escape in supersonic flight using an escape capsule.
