The 264 GLE treated the Swedes to their own luxury class
This Swede truly deserves its status as a modern classic. When the latest generation of Volvo limousines was introduced in 1975, the numbers in the model designation were updated as well. The result of the overhaul was a substitution of the quite successful 164 with the 264, which came to set new standards in terms of passive safety. This step allowed Volvo to become the first Swedish car manufacturer to found their own family of luxury cars – the 264 GLE was the epitome of sparkle and splendour with its abundance of ornamental trim and its chromed radiator grille. On top of that, the original boasted a mighty V6 engine. The rectangular headlamps, significantly larger tail lights and a lush interior elevated the 264 GLE. WIKING has treated the modern classic to the optimum level of detailing which mimics the original vehicles, bringing out the striking design elements in the 1:87 scale miniature as well.
